Setup

Everything at the lab is power-managed by means of an automation system.

Gallery Area

  • Limited space for display of completed projects

Main Meeting Area

  • Conference table with chairs
  • Couches along back wall
  • Mounted projector w/ projection screen, fully managed with touchscreen
    • 1024×768, DVI computer input, composite video, audio (DVI available)
  • Media PC with XBMC for dvd, mpeg4, mpeg2, audio playback
  • Video and Audio recording capability for internet broadcast and local capture
  • Whiteboard(s)
  • Wired and Wireless internet

Chillout Area

  • Couches
  • Table
  • 1080p (repaired) 42” video display, fully managed with touchscreen
  • Whiteboard space
  • Foosball table
  • 4 arcade machines (part of a project, subject to rotation)
  • WiFi with VPN termination

Workshop Area

  • Workspace for working with tools
  • Small drill press, vice, workbench
  • Tools for working on small projects (aluminum/plastic)
  • CNC mill project (smaller desktop setup)
  • Laser engraver/cutter project (smaller desktop setup)
  • Electronics tools
  • Computer(s) with electronic software / CNC software / inet (can be laptops)
  • Some storage of donated parts for pulling into creations (motors, LCDs, etc)
  • Some parts repository of new electronics components (swap $$ with part)

Member longer term work area

  • Area for workspace that members can use for longer term projects
  • Tables, florescent lighting
  • Possible cubicles
  • Possible book library
  • Note ceiling height is a bit low

IT Lab

  • Some modern and vintage machines for research, training
    • Netapp Filer (Powered off normally)
    • AIX, Solaris, Linux/BSD, etc (Powered off normally)
    • Cisco hardware (Powered off normally)
    • Always powered off, easy access by means of power control
    • Always monitored for usage by means of power control (amperage)
    • No outside IP addresses, not a hosting or full time setup
    • Great for research
    • Full time network attached storage

Physical Storage Area

  • This is a bit of a wild card at this point in time
  • Space for parts and some projects belonging to members
  • Possible 2nd meeting area
    • Have possible conference table donation
    • Score a projector and a few bits, and we're rocking
